Cariboo Kids has partnered with the South Cariboo Recreational Centre to offer free Parent & Tot Skating sessions every Wednesday at 9:00 AM. The program started October, 2018 and will run until April 10th, 2018— excluding March 20th and 27th: there is no skating those days. The program is open to all parents/caregivers and their children 0-5 years of age. Bob skates and helmets are provided for children, and parents have access to adult skates if needed. Strollers are allowed on the ice, accommodating parents with infants.
Ice skating is helps young children develop gross motor skills. It’s also a sport that children can enjoy throughout their lives. The stability control, strength, and endurance involved in skating gives children a way to meet gross motor skills milestones while having fun. The benefits of skating also extend beyond the physical elements: children learn to manage failure and success, while developing social skills and making new friends. All of these skills can help with the transition in to kindergarten.
Come join us on the ice for some foundational fun!
